Students and staff at Swiss universities can purchase academic and commercial cloud services in their institution’s curated online shop on SWITCHhub. More and more universities are using the new marketplace to purchase services and provide their own solutions.
SWITCHhub is the marketplace for Swiss universities, containing a one-of-a-kind combination of academic and commercial cloud services. Universities can purchase services and make them available to users in their own online shops. SWITCHhub was launched as an official service in January 2021, following a successful pilot phase.
At first, SWITCHhub helped us solve a very specific problem related to the provisioning of Adobe CC licenses. The success of this hands-on experience, coupled with the efficient and uncomplicated support provided by SWITCH, convinced us that SWITCHhub is one way to go to disseminate future digital solutions within the UniFR community.

Many vendors offer special prices for universities. Nevertheless, it can often be difficult to find the best deal. SWITCHhub makes it easy, as SWITCH negotiates preferential terms, conducts legal reviews and secures cloud service software on behalf of all universities.
Statistics and reporting tools allow administrators to keep track of how many licences their university holds for which services, and to whom these have been allocated. Online shop administrators can manage their service catalogue to offer different user groups different services at different prices.
We are constantly adding more academic and commercial services to SWITCHhub. Currently, we are working on integrating RStudio and Zoom.
Would you like to purchase or offer services on the SWITCHhub marketplace?
We would be pleased to advise you personally.
