IT for Research Day 2019

Data management is a major concern for the research community. The third IT for Research Day offered around 150 participants a platform to discuss and share common challenges and solutions.

Over 150 researchers, academic IT specialists, librarians, lecturers and educational policy representatives accepted their invitation to the University of Fribourg for 11 September 2019. Under the motto ‘The Evolution of Scientific IT – from infrastructure to services’, the topics of IT and research were examined and intensively discussed from an interdisciplinary perspective.

After an introduction by the Vice-Rector of the University of Fribourg, Professor Rolf Ingold, Dr Alexandre Gachet gave a presentation on the role of scientific IT as an enabler at the University of Fribourg.

Prominent experts presented insights into their work. The wide spectrum of projects demonstrated the diverse support that SWITCHengines provides for academic applications, from the project level right up to national services. Various perspectives, approaches and tools related to data management were presented, as were new teaching approaches.
